In the Maldives halal food is available for everyone. The Maldives is an Islamic country, thus they try to serve halal food for all. The Maldivian law does not allow Maldivians to eat food that is forbidden by Islam.
However, the resorts provide Oriental, Middle Eastern, Indian and Continental dishes to every one in restaurants. Pork and liquor are available only in the resorts and are forbidden to be taken to any island other than a resort.

Restaurants located in islands other than the resorts serve only halal food. Foods which are not halal are only served in resorts, so restaurants in resorts are not halal certified.
